Job description
The purpose of this job is to effectively carry out the academic duties required by the Subject Teacher and HOD, and to support the Subject Teacher with the academic enrichment of Makini’s students. We are looking to recruit three Assistant Teachers: Maths/Science, Humanities, and English/MFL.
- Endeavour to maintain and develop the ethos of the school.
- Assist the Subject teacher to ensure that planning, preparation, recording, assessment and reporting meet Makini standards.
- Prepare the learners’ work and materials beforehand as required by the Subject teacher.
- Assist in overseeing students in non-classroom/outdoor activities like lunch, recess, games etc.
- To ensure that the Classroom is tidy at all times.
- Assist with the bathroom breaks for the learners.
- Carry out supervisory duties as required like taking learners to the bus in the afternoon and receiving them in the morning.
- Be present for and assist with School expeditions.
- Assist the Subject Teacher to ensure prompt and regular attendance of students and report any absence to the Principal and/or the Class Teacher timeously.
- Taking over teaching duties as when required by the Deputy Principal.
- Always promote professionalism by keeping time, keeping to a dress code suited for the work environment and delivering excellent performance.
- Perform any other duties as directed by the Principal, Deputy Principal or member of the School management team.
- Preparation of learners’ books and materials and any other class duties as directed by the Class teacher and Principal.
- Achieve and maintain hygiene standards as required by the Class teacher.
- Cordial relationship with all stakeholders.
Minimum requirements
- ECD Degree or its equivalent from a recognized College/ University/ Institution in one of the subjects specified
- Be a registered TSC member
- Have experience of teaching in an International Cambridge school
